Wii Speak Channel

Wii Speak and the Wii Speak Channel makes socialising and communicating with family and friends through your Nintendo Wii console simpler and much more fun!

The Wii Speak Channel gives Wii users the opportunity to chat online with one another in one of four different rooms using the Wii Speak microphone and speaker accessory. There are an unlimited number of people allowed in one room and each Nintendo Wii user is represented by their Mii. Each individual Mii will lip synch to their users spoken words as they chat using Wii Speak. Also, the Wii Speak Channel allows users to leave audio messages for other Wii users on the Wii message board, and there is also the function to use Wii Speak to make audio captions for photos they have stored on their Wii console.

Wii Speak Channel

The Wii Speak Channel can be accessed from the main menu on the Nintendo Wii console, allowing up to 4 Wii users who can be anywhere in the world, to connect together using their Wii Speak devices, to chat, share pictures and text massages online. Each user is represented by their Mii.

The Wii Speak Channel can be downloaded by using a 16-digit Wii Download Ticket to unlock it, the code is included in the package when you buy Wii Speak.

The issue of the access code for the Wii Speak Channel being a "one use only" code that would not be replaced has caused some confusion and publicity accusing Nintendo of of trying to stop second-hand sales of Wii Speak. Nintendo have subsequently clarified their position over second-hand sales of the new Wii Speak peripheral, saying there is nothing to worry about in the following statement:

"Nintendo can confirm that when consumers purchase the Wii Speak accessory, they are provided with a Wii Download Ticket with a unique number. The ticket, which can be redeemed via the Wii Shop Channel, will enable the user to download the Wii Speak Channel free of charge to a single Wii console," the representative stated.

"Any consumer who may have misplaced their Wii Download Ticket number for the Wii Speak Channel or require a new number following a Wii exchange may contact their local Nintendo Customer Services department, where they can request a replacement Wii Download Ticket number."

So it seems that if you buy Wii Speak and lose your code for the Wii Speak Channel, or buy Wii Speak second hand without the original access code, you WILL be able to get a new code. Glad that's cleared up!
